ZINES: Publish Your Thoughts, Change Your World (Rising 6th to 8th Graders)

07/10/2023 09:00 AM - 03:30 PM ET

Description

So, what is a ZINE???

There’s no official definition, but most zines are self-published booklets to share thoughts, feelings, creativity, experience, and knowledge with others.

We believe that middle schoolers have important thoughts, challenging questions, and beautiful ideas to share.  So, we ask, “What do you care deeply about?   How do you want to change the world?”  Find your powerful voice with your own publication, and have a great time making a beautiful small book to share and trade.

In this one week intensive, students will pick their own passionate theme to explore and explode in a zine while utilizing a variety of printing techniques and equipment at the Frederick Book Arts Center.  Participants will learn the basics of silkscreen, letterpress, and linocut printing.  At the end of the week students will have zines to share and a collection of zines from fellow participants.

No additional supplies necessary. Please provide a lunch, snack, and waterbottle for your child.

$300/per person.
