Thinking Outside the Box- a Different Approach to Block Printing

10/05/2023 06:00 PM - 10/06/2023 08:00 PM ET

Description

Learn to plan and create a printable linoleum block that you will use to create a multi-color work of art using cut-and-paste and collage techniques.

Students will use both traditional and non-traditional approaches to create a multi-color block print image by using good printmaking practices as well as cut-and-paste and collage techniques. No prior experience is necessary. The instructor will demonstrate the creation of a drawing, how to transfer that drawing onto the linoleum, safe carving techniques, how to print the linoleum block in several colors, and how to construct a beautifully finished product using basic cut-and-paste and collage techniques. In addition, students will be encouraged to share their linoleum block with one another for inclusion in each other's project. Ages 13 and up; 13-16 with adult supervision.

October 5th, 12th, 19th - Thursdays 6-8pm

Instructed by Judith Kornett

$125/per person

NOTE:

We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
