Vintage Handmade Halloween Decorations (Session 2)

10/13/2023 07:30 PM - 08:30 PM ET

Description

Learn the basics of letterpress printing and design while you create your own handmade Halloween decorations! Old school style meets modern tech in this fun hands-on experience for everyone ages 8 and up!

Join us for an introductory lesson in how to set up and print multimedia designs on our letterpress equipment! We're going to use presses from the 1930s-60s to create paper decorations reminiscent of Halloween cartoons of the era. We will instruct you how we use rubber P22 Blocks and photopolymer plates, more modern forms of relief printing, to create the effect of artwork from the mid-1900s. You will be able to customize your decorations and create something truly unique in celebration of Halloween!

The event will run from 6-9 with class sessions running from 6-7 and 7:30-8:30, with time for pie and socializing from 7-7:30. The studio will be open until 9 for those that want to continue printing. Decorations will be ready to take home that night.

NOTE:

We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
