Take your printmaking skills to the next level! Learn how to set up an etching press, mass-produce your edition of prints, and clean and care for the machine.
This three-hour lesson is designed for students who have block printing or plate etching experience. Students can use a composition they have completed in our studio, a polymer plate design printed with us or out-of-house, or choose a simple design from our catalog. Our teacher will guide you through setting up and registering the press, inking and printing a single-color small edition, and cleaning up afterwards.
Etching presses are designed to print intaglio plates such as etched copper, zinc, or plexiglass. They are also ideal for printing unmounted linoleum, wood blocks up to ⅛” thick, and polymer plates. The teacher will recommend a properly sized press for your composition.
