Learn all about our darkroom and get certified to use it!
Join us November 29 from 11-11:30 to learn about the policies andusage of the FBAC darkroom
During the orientation you will be introduced to the darkroom - the equipment we have, chemistry we use, and overall policies. Afterwards there will be a skills test to ensure you understand the basics of using enlargers and print development.
This orientation is not an introduction to darkroom photography or darkroom printing class. Prior knowledge of darkroom use is required.
For the skills test, please bring your own negatives or photogram materials. You will be provided with 3 pieces of 5x7 photo paper and asked to create a test sheet and develop one image. You are only being judged on the ability to safely use equipment and chemicals independently. You will not be judged on the quality of the image.
Once you have gone through the half hour orientation/certification session you may sign up to use the darkroom during open studio for the day ($50 fee) and will be certified for future community darkroom open studio sessions.
Future Open Studio Darkroom will be $50 for a 3 hour session. Chemistry (up to a certain tray size) will be included, but paper will not be nor is paper available for purchase through FBAC. At this time we are only set up for print development - however we are open to the potential of negative development and can create options on a case by case basis.
Open Studio Darkroom hours will be available sporadically as our scheduling allows and potentially by request. To see future listings, check the class calendar. Orientations will also be available at the beginning of these sessions.
