Book of Cards: Using French Link Stitch
Saturday, January 17: 10am - 2:30pm with break
Cost: $85
Instructor: Tawn O’Connor
In-Studio Class (Adult Class)
Remember that box of Christmas cards, birthday, and special-occasion cards that you can't bring yourself to toss? This one-day class will help you make a unique book from your cards that you'll take home. You'll also have written instructions to help you make more card books.
You will learn some basic bookbinding skills and go home with a finished Card Book of 12 to 20 cards. We will punch sewing holes and use a French Link stitch to sew the cards onto tapes. We'll add some pocket pages to hold off-size cards, and make decorative covers from bookboard and paper. Gift bags make durable cover material if you'd like to bring some of your own paper. The written instructions are detailed enough so that you can make more Card Books at home—because most people have plenty of cards to make more than one book!
Supplies needed by participants: Bring cards you want to bind into a book, we will sort them by size-only in class, but please sort the order you would like them to be bound in at home!
NOTE:
We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
