In this introductory workshop students will learn the basics about lithography.
Traditionally, a lithograph has been rendered on a Bavarian limestone. Modern printing practices have resulted in the production of a ball-grained aluminum plate that simulates the surface of a limestone. Students will learn how to clean and prep the plate surface, prepare a composition for drawing, drawing tips, and etching prints for printing. At the final session, each student will print a small edition of their drawing with the teacher present to take you through the steps.
Wednesday 7-9pm classes will be plate preparations, creating the image, and washing out the plate to prepare it for printing. The final class will be the printing day. This is more easily done one-on-one so Carol will arrange times with students 10-12, 12:30-2:30, or 3-5 on Saturday 8/8 and Sunday 8/9.
