Erasure Poem Chapbook
Sunday June 7th, 12:30 - 3:30
$55
Instructor: Cindy Watkins
In-Studio Class
In this class, students will practice blackout poetry techniques on public domain texts to compose a poem or series of poems that they will bind into a small booklet that they will be able to take with them.
Class will begin with a brief lecture on the history and techniques of erasure poetry, and a short demonstration on the blackout poetry method. Students will be afforded ample time to draft their poems on selections taken from public domain texts. There will be ample material made available, so students should feel free to experiment. Once students have their drafts ready, there will be a short demonstration of a simple booklet binding technique, then students will bind their poems into booklets.
NOTE:
We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
