Print Your Own Mother’s Day Card

Join as we create special handmade Mother’s Day Cards. Students in the third to sixth grade age ranges are welcome to join us for this class - but we do ask parents to stay during the class to help if needed.

We will be carving onto easy carve for print designs to print our cards. You will get to design your own block which you will be able to use in the future for making more prints at home or use like a stamp! We will even bring out the letterpress tools to print Happy Mother’s day on the cards!

About the instructor: Marcey Jastrab

Marcey Jastrab combines a love of the natural world with crafting traditions of old to create unique, handmade items. She can be found making brooms, blacksmithing, gardening, or lino printing.

Marcey has also been a lifelong teacher. She started by teaching her little sister how to read on a chalkboard.  From there she taught college volunteers on archaeological digs, bio/chem/physics in public high school, STEM classes at the public library, and now medical research at a medical school in Maryland. Combining professional teaching with her practice of the old traditions, Marcey loves sharing the creative joy in making things by hand.

NOTE:

We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
