Instructor: Mirka Hokkanen
In-Studio Class
Printing woodengravings can be a challenge. In this class we'll discuss the ins and outs of printing a block: from ink, to rolling up your block, to make-ready and paper preparation. You'll have the opportunity to pick the kind of a press you want to use for printing between the etching, clamshell and letterpresses and then work in pairs to get hands on time on printing and troubleshooting your blocks.
Work with your previously created engraving blocks to learn printing techniques. This class is aimed at people who have taken wood engraving with MIrka in the past and would like to practice and have more indepth knowledge about printing the blocks.

We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to us at contact@frederickbookarts.org.
