Lino Printing on Fabric

In this class students will draw and carve an original design on a 4" x 6" block of Speedy-Carve.  Printing will take place on Conrad, the French Tool Press.  Students can choose two items for printing:  15’’x16’’ cotton tote bags in various colors and/or 28" x 29" white cotton tea towels and/or 20" x 20" cotton napkins.  Additionally, each student can do a fabric test print on a decorative fabric patch.  Students will also make a number of paper test prints.

This class is suitable for any level, but especially for beginners.  Carving and printing techniques will be taught and modeled throughout the class.  All materials will be supplied, just bring your ideas.  The carving block is 4" x 6".  It would be a good idea to bring some sketches with you to class.  Take away items will include:  1 hand carved block, lots of test prints, one test print on a decorative fabric patch, and two fabric items printed on Conrad.

There will be a lunch break, feel free to bring your own food or sample one of the many delicious lunch spots in downtown.  Snacks provided.  Drinks are allowed in the studio.

NOTE:

We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
