Lino Carve & Print a Farmers Market Bag

Come and meet Conrad, the FBAC French Tool Press!

In this class students will draw and carve an original design on a 4" x 6" block of Speedy-Carve.  Printing will take place on Conrad, the French Tool Press.  Students will each receive 2 farmers market bags for printing.  Each bag is 100% cotton, measures 16" x 17" w/o handles, and folds into a 4.5" x 4.5" pouch.  Students will also make a number of paper test prints and one final printing paper print.

This class is suitable for any level, but especially for beginners.  Carving and printing techniques will be taught and modeled throughout the class.  All materials will be supplied, just bring your ideas.  The carving block is 4" x 6".  It would be a good idea to bring some sketches with you to class.  Take away items will include:  1 hand carved block, lots of test prints, one good print on printing paper, and two fabric market bags printed using Conrad.

There will be a lunch break sometime between 12:00 and 1:00, feel free to bring your own food or sample one of the many delicious lunch spots in downtown.  Snacks provided.  Food and drinks are allowed in the studio.

NOTE:

We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
