Paper Cut Pet Portraits

01/06/2022 - 01/31/2024

Description

This experience can be taught as a one-on-one intensive with the artist or a great group activity for friends to share. The cost is the same no matter how many people split the activity and the cost. Participants should have some experience working with X-Actos and #11 blades and should be comfortable creating thin lines and cleanly navigating curves.

In this 3 hour session, we will use fingertip craft knives to create papercut portraits of pets from a provided photo. We will go over exactly which parts of the fur baby are most important in creating a true likeness and the instructing artist will offer tips on how to cut portraits of your very own floof at a later date!

We will talk about how to prioritize the “essentials” (eyes, head shape, and mouth) in order to create portraits that truly capture an animal’s spirit.  We will talk about the importance of shadow and how to ensure that you’re not including too much detail. We will also discuss how to format and edit pictures of your own beloved furballs so that you can cut them on your own at a later date. Ages 18 and up.

Please note the initial sign up EVENT REGISTRATION form will ask for the number of attendees, please choose ONE, even if you are organizing a group. Let us know the number of participants in the post-registration emailed google form. Unfortunately, our current system does not support purchasing a group event easily.

If you have any questions or would like to reach out to discuss or confirm a date before signing up for the experience please contact us at: contact@frederickbookarts.org.

Once you purchase this experience you will receive an email with a link to a form to tell us a little more about your troop or group and we will contact you to schedule a time that works well with the teacher, FBAC, and your group.
