Vandercook, A Broadside Engagement (Rising 9th to 12th Graders)

High School students will gather one night a week and have the opportunity to print with text and image on our Vandercook Letterpresses, to produce their own work of art.  Over the course of 4 evening sessions youth will learn the art and craft of letterpress printing: setting type, creating images, and then printing a small broadside (a single page of printed word/image, up to 12”x15”) or an 8 page small folded book.  The first two weeks will be intensive instruction in the craft of letterpress. Then, in the second two weeks, each student will have time to work their individual project to completion.  The youth will learn under the mentorship of Johnny Carrera and other professional printmaking and bookbinding artists. 

Taught by Johnny Carrera, $180/per person.
