Book Binding Foundations Series: Stab Binding Part II: Hard Cover

06/19/2024 06:00 PM - 08:30 PM ET

Description

This is the second class in the three part stab binding series. We will be discussing a method to create a hardcover for our traditional stab bound books. We will also be learning the Kikko Toji (Tortoise Shell Binding) style of sewing to use on this book.

This is part of our introduction to bookbinding series and is designed to be beginner friendly as a series. This stab binding series is based on techniques of a traditional Asian form of bookbinding. This class is the second of the ongoing 3 part series, and is designed for students with some familiarity with stab binding or who have taken the Stab Binding I class in this series, however all students are welcome. Modification may be made to the stitch style for students who are not familiar with stab binding.

NOTE: We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know would like to participate in a class but do not have the funding please reach out to contact@frederickbookarts.org and we will do what we can so no one has to miss out on the experiences we offer.
