Eco printing is a beautiful way to capture impressions of flowers, leaves and botanicals on papers and fabrics using mordants, modifiers, pressure, and heat. 

This pressing method allows beautiful botanical details to be transferred permanently onto natural fabrics or paper. Allowing for washable, wearable fabrics and papers that can be manipulated without smudging.

Each plant reveals a unique impression based on a chemical bond as it is printed which varies depending on reactions with other material or even from plant to plant or season to season - so there is a lot of room for experimentation and play.

Learn how to print fabric and paper to build the foundations for experimenting in the future. 

Laura will provide you with one fat quarter of raw silk (18” x 22”) and one 12”x16” piece of Arches #140 Watercolor Paper plus a selection of botanical printers and mordants, modifiers and enhancements. She will contact you before class with information on additional substrates and botanicals you may bring from home and how to prepare them. Samples, examples, and resources will be shared in class. 

Be prepared to be impressed with how beautifully plants can print without adding inks!

Supplies needed by participants: 

**$40 materials fee to be paid directly to the teacher on the day of class.**

We set our pricing to pay our instructors a fair wage and cover materials, but one of FBAC’s goals is to give access to the experience of all things bookbinding and printing to anyone who is interested.
