Learn to create a hard-cover book with a gorgeous open spine highlighting the stitchwork and showing the structure of the book. This book style is perfect for a journal or sketch book because the pages lay perfectly flat when open to create an ideal writing surface. This binding style is inspired by the historic finds of coptic books and utilizes a link stitch.  

This is one of the best book styles for an introduction to bookbinding because you get experience trying several different bookbinding skills without needing specialty tools. The skills used in this style are very similar to many other historic and modern book styles and will create a fantastic foundation for future bookbinding adventures. 

This book will be created using copy paper for the textblock and patterned paper for the covers - but can be customized to use a specific paper, cover materials, or event printed content. Please reach out with any customization requests and we will see if we can accommodate it.
